Terms of Service

These terms apply to this website and to quote requests made through it. North Star Home Services provides residential home services in the Greater Toronto Area. If anything here is unclear, ask us before booking work.

Quote requests and estimates

Submitting the quote form is a request for a quote, not a booking, and it does not create a contract for work. Any figure we give you is an estimate based on the information and photos you provide. We confirm the scope with you before work begins, and if what we find on site differs from what was described, we will discuss it with you before continuing. The website does not display pricing and does not take payments.

Scope and scheduling

Work is scheduled based on availability, crew routing and the size of the job. Timing windows are our best estimate and can be affected by weather, traffic, access problems or the jobs ahead of yours. We will let you know if something changes.

Your responsibilities

• Give accurate information about the job, the property and anything that affects access — stairs, laneways, parking, gates, elevators, storeys or tight spaces.
• Make sure you are the owner or occupant, or otherwise authorized to have the work done and to have the items removed, and that our access to the property is lawful.
• Point out what is going and what is staying, and remove anything valuable or personal that should not be touched.
• Tell us about hazards or conditions we should know about before we arrive, such as damaged structures, unstable surfaces, pests, mould, sharp debris, pets on site, or anything unsafe to lift or climb near.

Photos and uploads

Photos are optional and help us quote more accurately. By uploading a photo you confirm you are allowed to share it. Do not upload images of other people, or content you do not have the right to send. Uploads are stored privately and used to assess and carry out your request, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not publish customer photos on this website without asking you first.

Changes to scope

If the amount of material, the access conditions or the work needed turns out to be different from what was described, the quote may need to be revisited. We will talk it through with you and get your go-ahead before doing additional work.

Service limitations and materials we cannot take

We do not accept hazardous, regulated or specialized-disposal materials unless we have expressly agreed in advance and it is something we are able to handle lawfully. That includes, for example, chemicals, fuels, solvents, paint, propane tanks, asbestos-containing material, biohazardous or contaminated waste, and similar items. We also decline work that is unsafe for our crew or requires trades or permits we do not hold. If we discover such material on site, we may leave it in place and let you know.

Availability

Service availability depends on location, scheduling and the nature of the job. We may decline or reschedule a request, and we will tell you honestly if a job is not something we can take on.

Cancellation and rescheduling

Plans change. If you need to cancel or move a scheduled visit, contact us as early as you reasonably can so we can offer the slot to someone else and find you a new one. We will do the same if something on our end has to move.

Use of this website

Use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false or misleading requests, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems, or use automated tools to flood the quote form. The staff sign-in area is for authorized North Star Home Services accounts only.

Intellectual property

The content on this website — including text, layout, branding and our own job photography — belongs to North Star Home Services and may not be copied or reused for commercial purposes without our permission.

Limitation of liability

The information on this website is provided for general purposes and may change. To the extent permitted by law, North Star Home Services is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of this website, or from reliance on estimates or descriptions given before a job is confirmed on site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law. Concerns about work performed should be raised with us directly and promptly so we can look into it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our services change. The version on this page is the current one.
